About the project “MUSIC – Supporting People in Depression”

In a world where depression affects more and more people, “MUSIC – Supporting People in Depression” shows how singing together can raise awareness, strengthen communities and support mental wellbeing.

Since 2022, more than 130 choirs from 78 cities and villages in 14 countries have joined the campaign, organising concerts, open rehearsals, workshops and educational events in cooperation with mental health professionals and local institutions.

The campaign also includes webinars, expert meetings and pilot initiatives exploring the role of communal singing in supporting wellbeing and recovery.

Join the 2026 campaign

On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, observed on October 10, the Chórtownia Foundation, in cooperation with the Silesian Association of Choirs and Orchestras and other partners, invites choirs and conductors to take part in the next edition of the international campaign “MUSIC – Supporting People in Depression”, which will take place from October 3 to 11, 2026.

Objectives of the campaign

  • Raise awareness of depression as a serious illness that requires treatment.
  • Encourage people experiencing depression to seek professional help and therapy.
  • Promote choral singing as a tool for supporting mental wellbeing and prevention, as well as a form of support during recovery.
