About us

The organizer of the International Campaign "Music – Support for People with Depression" is the Chórtownia Foundation, with the Silesian Association of Choirs and Orchestras as a co-organizer. Together, we support the amateur choral movement in the region, nationwide, and internationally.

Chórtownia Foundation

Established in 2003 and well-known in the choral community, the Chórtownia Foundation connects with thousands of choirs in Poland and abroad. It operates the International Choral Portal chortownia.org – a database of choirs, festivals, and choral competitions, providing free promotional tools for choirs.

The foundation initiates and runs various projects, including:

  • CHORAL DRIVING LICENSE – a music education program for choristers covering vocal technique and Kodály method sight-singing
  • CHÓRTOWNIA WORKSHOP CHOIR (2023 – G.G. Gorczycki: Completorium, 2025 – G. Mahler: Symphony of a Thousand)
  • CHÓRTOWNIA VIRTUAL CHOIR (2020 – Anioł pasterzom mówił, 2021 – With Bogurodzica Through the Ages)
  • #calapolskaspiewawdomu (2020) – an open-access educational project with three-part arrangements of Polish popular songs, involving over 30 choir conductors from across Poland
  • Album projects: Sound of Europe (2015) and Treasures of Music: Armenia (2017)
  • SINGING FOR HEALTH – pilot choral classes for oncology patients and their families, in collaboration with the Upper Silesian Oncology Foundation
  • Journey to the Source of Songs – Georgia, September 3-12, 2025

 

Silesian Association of Choirs and Orchestras

The Silesian Association of Choirs and Orchestras, with roots dating back to 1910, brings together over 115 ensembles from both the geographical and historical Silesia. Its mission is to promote and preserve the intangible cultural heritage of choral and orchestral traditions. The association also publishes Śpiewak Śląski, the only magazine in Poland dedicated to the amateur music movement.
